Wednesday, October 7, 2026 - Simon Leviev, the man widely known as the “Tinder Swindler,” is planning to launch a dating app called Safe Love, promising to use his experience with online deception to help users identify fraudsters and fake identities.
Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Yehuda Hayut, says the platform is designed to make online dating safer through stronger identity checks and other security measures.
The proposed app is expected to include government ID verification, facial recognition and an emergency SOS feature that could share a user's location and record audio or video during a potentially dangerous date.
Leviev says the platform is in the final stages of regulatory approval, but the plan has already attracted criticism from the Online Dating and Discovery Association, which has urged Apple and Google to prevent the app from being hosted on their platforms.
The announcement is creating an immediate credibility test for Leviev. He was convicted in Israel in 2019 of fraud, theft and forgery and served five months of a 15-month sentence, while women featured in the Netflix documentary about his case accused him of using romantic relationships to obtain money.
Now, his attempt to turn that notoriety into a safety-focused technology business could become a closely watched test of whether a controversial public figure can successfully rebuild trust through a commercial venture.
