Man HACKED for ‘bewitching’ daughter-in-law in Kilifi

Monday 19^th August 2013 - A suspected witch was on Saturday evening hacked to death by angry residents of Vitengeni village in Kilifi County.

The 54 year old, Kitsao Kithi, was ambushed as he was heading home and hacked to death after he was accused of casting an evil spell on his daughter-in-law making her unable to give birth.

According to one of her family members, the lady failed to give birth and later on died under mysterious circumstances. The family blamed the old man after he once said that the lady was not fit for her son.

The family mobilised residents who ganged up against him hacking him with crude weapons and leaving his body lying in a pool of blood outside his house.

Vitengeni Assistant Commissioner, Vincent Kibara, said that investigations had been launched to establish what really led to Kithi’s death. He has also promised to take action to all those who participated in the mob justice.
