Tragedy rocked a small Iowa town this week, when a 44-year-old
doctor followed his ex-girlfriend to the home of her new boyfriend, killed her
and then committed suicide.
Following the break-up, Roses began exhibiting some strange
behavior. Daily Mail reports that postings on Facebook show he
became obsessed with the petite blonde:
"She updated her status last month to reveal she had broken
up with her boyfriend and that he was contacting her friends, trying to find
out where she was and who she was with. On February 3 she posted: 'An invasion
of privacy, it needs to stop.' Later that day she wrote: 'I really don't think
I should ever feel unsafe because I feel as if I'm being watched.'"
On March 21, Nichols
updated her Facebook page with a new life event - she was in a relationship
with Chase Weber. Hours later, she was dead.
Authorities say Roses followed her to Weber's home in Jesup on
Wednesday night, where he jumped out of his car with a gun. Buchanan County
Attorney Shawn Harden said he tried to get Nichols to get into his truck before
shooting her and then himself.
Her boyfriend witnessed the argument from inside and called 911.
"I don't think I honestly realize that it's happened
yet," close friend Abby Lundy told KWWL. "I think I'm kind of going through the motions to
be strong for the situation. It's going to affect me for the rest of my
life."
