Friday, April 18, 2025 - Megan Thee Stallion is seeking to have rapper Tory Lanez reprimanded for his alleged behavior during a recent deposition in a civil case she filed against blogger Milagro Cooper. Megan’s attorney has filed a motion asking the court to hold Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, in contempt, accusing him of disruptive and inflammatory conduct that they claim goes against the basic norms of civil litigation.
The lawsuit alleges that Cooper spread defamatory
statements, deepfake porn videos, and false information about Megan at Lanez's
behest. When Lanez was called to give a deposition, Megan’s legal team says he
pretended not to understand simple terms like "discuss" and
"approve." In addition, they claim that Lanez insulted Megan's
attorney, criticizing her hair dye as "distracting" and making a
remark telling her to bring a hairbrush the next time they tried to depose him.
The civil case also includes an email from the law firm
representing Lanez in his criminal appeal, stating they do not represent him in
the civil matter and would not contest Megan's attorneys' request to hold him
in contempt.
Lanez was convicted in 2022 of shooting Megan in the foot,
facing charges of negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a
semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm. He was
sentenced to 10 years in prison. Megan also obtained a restraining order
against Lanez earlier this year, explaining to the court that she had not felt
peace since the shooting.
Lanez’s legal team has not yet responded to the allegations
regarding his conduct during the deposition.
