K24 in trouble fired PREGNANT ANN NGUGI and 73 others

Sunday, August 11, 2013 – On Thursday last week, 73 employees at MediaMax were shown the door after an emergency meeting chaired by Peter Opondo which decided that that was the best way of cutting costs.

According to reliable sources, the media house is going broke and could no longer manage to pay the huge salaries they had issued to poached anchors and employees.

The 73 employees are now seeking legal redress and if they win the case, Mediamax will be forced to pay millions of shillings in form of damages.

Among the employees who are most affected are two pregnant women; former Swahili news anchor, Ann Ngugi and Chemtai Goin. The two have an airtight case because it is against human rights to fire a pregnant woman.

On top of that, Ngugi is also a mother to a needy child and firing her may cause stress to the unborn child. Pundits say that if the firing was worth the cost cutting it was ok but firing a pregnant woman, Opondo made a big mistake.
