Tuesday March 27, 2012 - President Mwai Kibaki and
Prime Minister Raila Odinga dislodged disobedient and disloyal ministers after
a major cabinet reshuffle on Monday evening.
Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa, a young
turk, perceived to be Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s choice for running
mate and a brother to one of Kibaki’s former political ally’s late Vice
President Michael Kijana Wamalwa, takes over from Mutula at Ministry of Justice
and Constitutional Affairs.
In reward to Murang’a County
residents after the demise of enigmatic John Michuki, Nairobi metropolitan
ministry was taken by another Uhuru’s ally, Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau.
The cabinet changes also
saw Prof Sam Ongeri; one of the most Presidents’s trusted allies moved from
Education Ministry to the prestigious Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The previous holder, Mr
Moses Wetangula, who was holed in the Mali coup for three days, was moved to
ministry of trade previously held by Ali Chirau Makwere.Makwere was moved to
the Environment Ministry which was held by late Kangema MP John Njoroge Michuki.
Njeru Githae took grip of
the finance docket firmly after he was relieved of the Nairobi Metropolitan Ministry.
On the other side, Prime
Minister Raila Odinga cracked the whip on Mvita MP Najib Balala who was Tourism
Minister.
Raila sacked Najib Balala
and replaced him with his closest ally in the region Danson Mwazo who is an MP
for Voi Constituency.
Balala recently announced
his plan to ditch the ODM party and this may the reason Raila dislodged him
from the cabinet position.
